It’s summer and everywhere we turn, we are surrounded by gorgeous greenery and flowers – and we LOVE it! Even though we are in the midst of the season, we managed to get away from the office for the afternoon and pay Tatton Flower Show a visit. For the second year running, our tipis were featured at the show at “The Vineyard”, so there really was no excuse not to go for a research trip!
It was a truly beautiful afternoon spent admiring some of the most unique designs and flower arrangements. The show definitely got our creative juices flowing, giving us great inspiration for our Autumn Open Weekend (which is at Dorfold Hall, Nantwich on the 7th & 8th October) . Now we are back in the office, we thought we would reflect on two of our favourite flowery weddings and the creativity of their super-talented florists.
In June this year, five of our Big Hats were decorated in an elaborate array of flowers – both faux and real. Blaire and Susie dreamt of a wedding jam-packed with peonies, roses and greenery, and their florist Natasha McClure certainly delivered! Taking inspiration from their love of the great outdoors, an obsession with P’Interest and the movie Twilight, Natasha created the most stunning flora and fauna haven.
As part of the hen party celebrations prior to the wedding day, Blaire & Susie arranged for all of their bridesmaids (yes there were twelve!) and their close female friends and family to travel down to London to have a “Flower Garland Making Night”. Along with a lot of prosecco and cheese, they had prepurchased a large amount of faux flowers from Country Baskets, along with a variety of ribbons in soft colours and widths. During the night, the team made 200m worth of flower garlands by tying small sections of the faux flowers along the length of the ribbon. These garlands were then used to dramatic effect with Natasha draping them from all of the purlin beams in the tipis.
The brides’ next request was to dress our Big Chief Flower Hoop in greenery and cherry blossom. This was hung over the top of our Circular Bar to create an incredible centrepiece when guests walked into the space.
Along with 12 bridesmaid bouquets, two brides bouquets, 15 table centrepieces and boutonnieres for the gents, the last request from the girls was a P’Interest worthy Flower Tree for the ceremony! They planned to marry under Blaire’s childhood treehouse, in her family’s orchard, so Natasha created a cherry blossom aisle leading up to “The Tree of Dreams”! We’re sure you’ll agree that Natasha’s creation is absolutely stunning…
Next up we have Sophie & Rob’s Hygge-vibe wedding. Their florist – Frog Flowers – took their Scandinavian forest request and transformed the tipis into a green dream! On entering the tipi, you were met by an abundance of leafy fauna with a few wild flowers thrown in for good measure. It’s one wedding that we believe the decor will never date due to it being simplistic and stylish. Sophie, who was lucky enough to find Frog Flowers on Instagram, wanted to create a Nordic dream, and we definitely think she pulled it off! In particular we love the gold metal terrariums that Sophie made for the top of the bar and barrels – she filled them with an assortment of mini cacti – super cute!
