We’re starting the New Year off with a bang! First week back in the office and one of our lovely newlyweds from 2016 have been featured in Cheshire Bride 2017. Looking through the pictures in the magazine have certainly made us feel all fuzzy inside again!
We first met Amy and Richard at one of our Open Days in 2015, and after months of planning, the beautiful couple got hitched in our tipis at the stunning Wedding Meadow in Cheshire last Summer.
The team from Cheshire Bride interviewed the beautiful bride Amy to find out all about her Big Day – here’s what she had to say…
The Story of Your Wedding
“As soon as we saw Big Chief Tipis for the first time we knew they would be perfect for our wedding day. We wanted a relaxed, memorable and most importantly fun day and Big Chief Tipis are all of those things. After choosing the Tipis we just needed to find somewhere special to put them and found The Wedding Meadow. This venue was exactly what we were looking for; not too far from the church, with beautiful views overlooking the Cheshire country side.

“We didn’t have a theme for the wedding but I knew the sort of atmosphere I wanted to create. Luckily we had Nina Marika on hand who helped to bring our dreams into reality. Texture was very important to me; we used wallpaper on top of the tablecloths to create a beautiful base for our flowers to sit on. Sian from The Flower Lounge did a fantastic job sourcing beautiful, unique flowers for us, especially the protea in my bridal bouquet which I loved.
“My dress is an Alice Temperely dress. I didn’t try on many dresses before I found The One. I had seen it in a magazine and instantly fell in love. I wanted a dress that I still felt like ‘me’ in and the t-shirt fit adorned with pearl applique was the perfect combination of relaxed and fun.
“Our wedding day was the first wedding we would be attending together, which meant neither of us had any idea of what to expect. I think this helped as we didn’t have any set expectations and even though neither of us had any idea what was going on the majority of the day, it all fell into place!
I think I used up all my nerves during the build up to the Big Day, so when it actually arrived I was more excited than nervous. Trying my dress on with my hair and makeup done was the most surreal moment and I don’t think anything can prepare you for it. Walking down the aisle and seeing Rich for the first time is a blur. He says he was only able to relax as he heard me laughing as I entered the church. For once he was more nervous than me!
When we arrived at the tipis we were both blown away. We had seen it the day before when we were setting up but to see everything in place and our vision turned into a reality was amazing.
“Our first dance was ‘I get to love you’ by Ruelle, however unbeknown to me Rich had worked with the DJ, to mix James Blunt’s ‘Goodbye My Lover’ in to the opening seconds of our song. It was a long standing inside joke of ours that helped to ease the awkwardness of the first dance and set the tone for the rest of the evening. The music and food were so important to us when planning our wedding and we couldn’t have chosen more perfect suppliers. Pig & Rhubarb created the most delicious menu which was a huge hit with guests. Karl and Kate from Deckheds managed to create an amazing party atmosphere playing everything from Kanye West’s Gold Digger to The Emotions Best of my Love. We finished the night with pizzas cooked in a converted Land Rover and cocktails served from a VW van – it was the perfect end to our perfect day.
We gave ourselves a couple of days to take it all in as the new Mr and Mrs Nelson before jetting off to Italy’s Amalfi Coast. It was the perfect romantic getaway and a relaxing change of pace from the blur of our wedding and preparations.”

“I wish I’d known…to relax in the planning process. Not everything is going to turn out perfectly but no one will notice and you won’t care on the day, you’ll be too busy enjoying the experience of getting married to your best friend.
Our wedding car hadn’t arrived when our guests were leaving on the bus to travel to the reception, leaving me and Rich waiting for it to arrive. As frustrating as it was it was a good opportunity to spend some time together and take it all in.
When we finally made it to the reception the glassware hadn’t arrived. This meant the welcome drinks hadn’t been prepared or the tables completely set. We were so excited to have got married, it didn’t even matter.”
Suffice to say, it looked and sounded like Amy and Richard had the most perfect day! We loved working with the both of them, and would like to wish them all the luck, love and happiness in the world! – x BCT x
