Last year Jamie joined our team of Little Chiefs and this month, she is celebrating her 1 year anniversary! To celebrate, we decided to give you an insight into her time behind the scenes, making dreams into memories…
How did you hear about Big Chief / how did you get the job?
Funny story really … I actually went for a job interview at one of Big Chief Tipis sister companies – The Awning Company – and Hayley (Director of Big Chief) interviewed me for the role. Hayley quickly learnt that my personality would be better suited at Big Chief Tipis, but there was no role available at that moment in time. After learning about the company, stalking their website and Youtube channel (yes, I did do that!), I realised no other job role and company was as interesting and as inviting as Big Chief Tipis. I knew this is where I wanted to work and was willing to wait until a role came available, I even asked if I could come and help file papers for free! Once a role became available, I applied and eventually got the invitation to come for an interview, and after a very nervous wait, I found out I had landed the job while on holiday! Safe to say I celebrated and couldn’t wait to start my position as Little Chief.
How long have you worked for Big Chief Tipis?
I can’t believe it has been a full year since I started Big Chief Tipis, it has gone so fast! We have been crazy busy with all the amazing events so far this year!
Can you describe your typical day at Big Chief?
I have amazing clients who always keep my job interesting, they are full of new ideas on how to decorate our Tipis to their own style and listen to my advice on how to make a unique structure work for them. I deal with new enquires every day and we do get a lot! Alongside this, I am putting together floorplans, meeting with our onsite team to make sure they are briefed on how the build and breaks are scheduled and updating quotations, to make sure every section of our client’s booking is perfect for their Big Chief event.
What’s your favourite thing about working at Big Chief Tipis?
I know this sounds pretty cliché but I love the people I work with and I am so lucky to have people around me who know I’m a little weird (sometimes!) and animal obsessed! But appreciate/ understand the hard work that goes into being a Little Chief.
Main achievement since working at Big Chief Tipis?
I have accomplished a lot of mile stones working at Big Chief, but I would say my main achievement is taking a booking from the initial enquiry, right the way through to the “I do’s”. Seeing the photographs of our Bride & Grooms and their guests happy shows how much effort the entire team at Big Chief Tipis puts into making their dreams into a memories… and it’s totally worth it!
What do you do to give an event that Big Chief stamp of approval?
I really do see all my clients as friends ( I do speak to them nearly every week for at least a year!) and I will always go above and beyond so I can make sure their event everything that they imagined. I like to contact my clients other suppliers i.e. Toilet & generator companies, to make sure we are all working in harmony, creating an organized, un-stressful, amazing day!
What makes Big Chief Tipis stand out from other tipi hire companies?
Our products and types of structure are unique, no event looks the same and this is very important when It comes to a special occasion. We are all one big family and when we have completed a client’s event, that’s not the end of them or our relationship with the client – they pass on their experiences to others and we create events for their friends and family! Once you have had a Big Chief Tipis event, the memories last forever and your guests will talk about it for years to come!
